Mary Rich


Mary Tidwell has been Instructor of music theory, ear-training, and music appreciation at Trinity Valley Community College since the fall of 2011. Commencing with the fall of 2012, she was named Coordinator of the Music Department. She served as Professor and Chair of the Music Department and Fine Arts Division at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas from 1993-2011. Prior to that time, she taught at Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana and at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Ms. Tidwell is honored to be included in multiple editions of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who of American Women. She was nominated as Piper Professor of 2007 by the faculty of Lon Morris College.

Ms. Tidwell has performed throughout Texas, including performances on the campus of Lon Morris College; Greggton United Methodist Church, Longview; Stephen F. Austin State University; East Texas Baptist University; Dallas Music Teachers’ Association at Steinway Hall, Dallas; Baylor University; and Mary Hardin Baylor University, to name a few. Additionally, she has performed as soloist in the Ravel Concerto with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra and as part of a duo’s performance of the Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos with the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra. In 2002, she and Jane Abbott-Kirk (Baylor University) performed a lecture-recital at the Texas Music Teachers’ Association Convention in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Ms. Tidwell has been named to the faculty of the Baylor Summer Keyboard Institute and the Sheila Paige Keyboard Wellness Seminar at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, Louisiana State University, the University of Texas at Arlington, and the University of North Texas.

Ms. Tidwell obtained both the Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance (magna cum laude) and Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance and Literature from Baylor University. Her teachers have included Ruth Burr, Michael Ard, Roger Keyes, Jane Abbott-Kirk, and Sheila Paige.
